The role of the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department is to develop programs and unified public policies which address the delivery of care and services to older persons and persons with disabilities throughout New Mexico. The Department is charged with creating a seamless, comprehensive, efficient and cost-effective home and community based long-term care system. The Department has the authority to develop and manage budgets and programs, issue rules and regulations, and develop this statewide plan for addressing the needs of older New Mexicans and New Mexicans with disabilities. The Older Americans Act authorizes the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department to prepare such a state plan for delivering services to New Mexico's elders and persons with disabilities.
