Since late 2004, this state-of-the-art information & assistance call-in, walk-in and web-based center has been in full operation. The ADRC is the single point of entry for older adults, people with disabilities, their families and the general public to access a variety of services, including state and federal benefits, adult protective services, prescription drugs, in-home and community-based care, housing, and caregiver support. ADRC staff offer options, coordinate New Mexico's aging and disability service systems, provide objective information and assistance, and empower people to make informed decisions.

ADRC Programs:

  • Information and Referral (I & R), provide information on community services such as independent living centers, legal services, homemaker assistance, senior centers, transportation, home-delivered meals, home modifications, assisted living and long-term care facilities, respite care, support groups and other caregiver resources;
  • Prescription Drug Assistance Program access to prescription drug assistance programs to enable older adults and adults with disabilities to obtain the medications they need at costs they can afford;
  • Coordination of Long-Term Services (CoLTS) "C" Waiver Program intake and central registry and allocation process;
  • Resource Options Coordination, provides over the phone counseling in care coordination. Care coordination is best described as assisting the client in describing their situation/problem. Generally the client recognizes the problem and may not know how to articulate it and may not be aware of the resources that are available to the elderly and disabled population in New Mexico;
  • The State Health Insurance Assistance Program, or SHIP, is a national program that offers one-on-one counseling and assistance to people with Medicare and their families. Coordinators provide benefits counseling on the Medicare, Medicare prescription drug program, Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare and Veterans benefits. Information and related Senior Medicare Patrol billing questions and appeals. NM SHIP ensures that older New Mexicans receive accurate, unbiased information about health care options and other entitlements. It does not sell, endorse or recommend any specific insurance or other health plans ;
  • Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) program help Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries avoid, detect, and prevent health care fraud. In doing so, they not only protect older persons, they also help preserve the integrity of the Medicare and Medicaid programs;
  • Adult Protective Service Intake, to report adult abuse, neglect or exploitation; and,
  • I & R Data Administration – SAMS and Social Service Resource Directory, provides maintaining and support to the SAMS internal database and online directory that provides individuals, family members or caregivers an easier way to access up-to-date, comprehensive services offered by national, state, and local social service providers. This directory currently contains data resources managed by the New Mexico Department of Health and by the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department.
