$300 Emergency Assistance Voucher
For New Mexico MEDBANK Program Patients
Eligibility Requirements

Many people have difficulty affording drugs that have been prescribed for them because the cost of the drugs is high relative to their income, and they have no other resource such as Medicaid or prescription drug insurance. The New Mexico MEDBANK Program may help these people obtain brand-name drugs through the pharmaceutical manufacturers' Patient Assistance Program.

However, it can take several weeks before a drug company approves an application for assistance and then ships the drug. In the meantime, the applicant may be without the needed drug. To assist people in this situation, an emergency fund is available to provide a one-time award up to $300 to purchase prescription drugs for an individual who has completed the MEDBANK application process and is awaiting drug company approval for free medications.

To be eligible for the $300 voucher, an applicant must meet these requirements:

  • Be a New Mexico resident.

  • Have no prescription drug insurance; or have reached the insurance benefit cap; or have reached the Medicare Part D gap.

  • Have an income not more than 2x FPL (currently $21,600/year for a single individual or $29,140/year for a household of two).

  • Have submitted a MEDBANK application with all required information including prescriber information and proof of income.

  • Need one or more prescribed drugs that are available through MEDBANK. If a client needs no drug that is available through MEDBANK, the client is not eligible for the voucher.
